I often find my self astonished at the varieties and multitudinous positions love can take¸ During WWII in Tokyo a woman was found wondering around in a fugue state¸ When she was taken to a hospital it was discovered that shed actually been walking around the city with her dead lovers penis inside her¸ This story was made into a movie named "Realm of the Senses" (I lucked across it when I was living in Greece¸ It is a Japanese film with Greek subtitles¸ Since I am not fortunate enough to understand spoken Japanese nor equipped to read the Greek language I found that I had to make up the story to fit the flow of images¸ Needless to say this was a very strange experience)¸ I am a poet so using the movie as inspiration I wrote the following poem (which is in fact going to be used in a film that Im currently involved with called "revelations")
"An Eastern Eros and Thanatos"
The beauty of her eyes
reflect the black city
teeth touch tongue
In the sky
the moon a circular
sea
on shifting clouds like
white sand
looking up
the stars
a net of stares¸¸¸
"Pluck their damn eyes out¸"
Then she remembers
his fading warmth
his skin
as it slipped from bone
like a scroll unrolled
She
is finally the
story of the Japanese woman
wandering the night Tokyo street
a delirium river
carrying inside
her his
rapturous remnant¸
Anyway I hope this gives you an idea of what I mean about the vagaries of love and its many configurations¸
