Lost Love
Pure eyes reveal thy gracious soul
through tender love I deeply miss
a fool to want for any more
than your true love and blessed kiss
Before me pure as gold you stood
with open arms to take me in
uncertain of the price to pay
I turned to face the other way
You opened up your heart to me
from depths I only fathom now
eclipsed by insecurity
my guise and refuge be the crowd
When I made the virtuous choice
too fortified was your remorse
you would not reinstate your care
disapproving of the pain to bear
An arduous task ahead of me
I beseech your soul to see
experience I once did lack
mother time has taught me back
The light of love that once shone true
now is replaced by darkness through
return to me angel of late
to free me of my broken state
What I held once within my arms
with lack of thought for value true
I now hold only in my dreams
dreams of the only love I knew
that love of life was once with me
and maybe more will never be¸
