What I hate is the fact that a favorite film director of mine‚ David Cronenberg‚ is having his latest piece of work withdrawn from distribution in the US thanks to the misguided moralist intentions of your favorite neo­puritan and mine‚ Ted Turner¸ The film in question is Cronenberg’s adaptation of JG Ballard’s cult novel "Crash"‚ which deals with a group of sexual extremists who eroticize automobile accidents¸ Apparently the film is doing big business in Toronto (Cronenberg’s hometown‚ and ironically enough a city where his work was met with much resistance early in his career); it seems as if I’m going to have to travel up North to witness what may be one of the last films in this millenium to push the Hollywood system into a whole new realm of what could be considered viable product for the adult filmgoing audience¸
