It is hard to believe that the fate of the world in the 1940s was determined by the actions of a group of 50 people. Numerous history books give credit to the various ALLIES armies for stopping Hitler from conquering the world. However in my History 131 class I learned that the most crucial moment of the WW II were determined by a group of bandits during the battle that took place on the Suez Canal. Historians agree that if the Germans had conquered the Suez Canal they would have seemingly been invinsible. The Suez Canal is the shortest acquatic link between Europe and Asia and if Germany would have gained control of the Suez then they would have had the captured one of the most important trade routes of the 1940s. Indeed the ALLIES army was losing the battle with the Germans when a group of bandits decided to "rob" some soldies of their weapons. Luckily they robbed the German army of some of their most valuable weapons and Hitler failed to capture Suez.
