I guess Im the only one who did something on Sunday. I raced a 50 mile bicycle tour in NY state. And I actually watched part of the Jets game last night. I saw it went into OT after that pass to that dude in the enzone. Who won anyway?? Yesterday was my second tour 2 weeks in a row. Ive become one of those bicycle dudes now that wears those funky shorts and helmets. I went on a 150 mile two day tour last weekend and my name made the newspaper. One of the most amazing things happened to me. I came in last place but was the most glorified rider by far. Heres what happened. I got a flat tire 4 miles from the finish line on day two of the tour. Since there was no more bike repair vehicles on the route the Sag wagon was going to drive me to the finish line. But I refused assistance. I didnt want to be sagged in to the end after having rode 135 miles. The guy said I had no choice and he told me to get in. I told him to "fuck off" ... well not really I probably just said "no thanks" but anyway it makes the story better. I picked up my bike and started walking to the finish line. The guy asked my name and said that he would follow behind me to make sure I made it on time to catch the train ride home. Everybody passed me up and about a half an hour later I saw the finish line. There were 650 riders plus an addional 2 or 3 hundred people waiting for me to come in. The DJ at the finish line stopped the celebration music to make an announce ment that the last rider would be coming in carrying his bike (I couldnt roll it because it would damage the rim) Anyway when I got there there were like 1000 people chanting my name. They DJ played the theme from ROCKY and I lifted the bike over my head as people popped champagne bottles over me and took pictures. It was the most glorifying moment of my life. The president of NMSS came up to me for an interview. My picture is in the town newspaper and about 20 random girls came up to have there picture taken with me. I had the best time but Im done riding for a while. I need to rest.
