My thoughts on Internet Access and freedom of speech issues
(ie¸ adult oriented material)
Although I am a conservitate registered republican voter who thinks
Oliver North did nothing wrong in lying to congress(considering they
lie to the U¸S¸ citizen on a daily basis) I find that I support Web
Sites like yours for the following reasons:
1¸ U¸S¸ citizens have the right to choose the types of information
they access¸ We dont need Bill Bennet or any other government
official deciding what is "good" or "bad" for us¸
2¸ WE AS A PEOPLE need to accept and embrace the fact that we are
responsible for our own actions¸ If we choose to view adult oriented
material or participate in adult oriented information exchange it
is our (each persons) responsibility to use this information
correctly¸
3¸ I agree that children SHOULD NOT have access to this sort of
material because it would be detrimental to their personal growth¸
But the online community provides a means to prevent unauthorized
access¸ A responsible user can limit access by providing children
with there own login name(s) and installing any of the various
"CyberSitter" type watchdogs¸ Or better yet sit with your child
and surf the net together!
Prohibition didnt work and neither will government censorship of
the internet¸
