Coming from Britain its interesting to compare the attitude between
people and government here in the USA with Britain¸ Other there we
essentially see the gov¸ as a friendly body of people trying to make
the country run smoothly¸ We have our gripes about the failed
promises of politicians and the inadequacies of beaurocrats but
essentially we are on good terms with them all¸ Even the tax system¸
Most people have tax dedcuted at source and never really bother with
tax returns (theyre only needed if you have a large deduction due
or if youve earned cash on the side)¸ Generally the PAYE is calculated
accurately¸ Over here things are very different¸ The government is
the enemy the big brother looking to remove all freedoms the
tax grabber the opponent¸ Even in business¸ Whereas British Aerospace
works cooperatively with the UK government Boeing treats the US
government as a competitor¸ Why is there this difference¸ Who knows¸
But I know this¸ If there is ever world government I dont want it
to be modelled on the US system¸
